The Federal Government has announced an expansion of air service arrangements with Qatar that will see Qatar Airways start services to Sydney and Melbourne later this year.
The new arrangements agreed to last month will allow Qatar Airways to provide a total of 14 services a week to Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth.
Previously, the airline was only allowed seven services a week, and access to Sydney was delayed for 12 months.
Sydney Airport has welcomed the announcement, saying it is a great boost for the city and Australia's tourism industry.
