The Tasmanian Government has rejected calls for a multi-million dollar bail out package for struggling timber workers.
The Greens have proposed a plan to bail out struggling forest workers after calls by the Forest Contractor's Association called for financial assistance.
The Primary Industries Minister David Llewellyn has told parliament the Greens' proposal is hypocritical, but he is prepared to look at changing laws governing timber contracts.
"To talk about a $94 million bail out of the industry is just not on at this time," he said.
"Mr Speaker, it is a fact that that certainly as I say there are concerns but I believe its a temporary issue and it's something that we can work through together."
