The production arm of Volvo Commercial Vehicles Australia has announced it will lay-off 130 workers in Brisbane.
Staff at the company's factory at Wacol in south-western Brisbane were informed of the decision today.
Of the staff to go, 90 permanent and 40 contractors will lose their jobs.
The union representing the workers says the move is a surprise in light of the recent federal assistance package for the car manufacturing industry.
